1. Accepting these terms

By using WhatToWrite.co, you confirm that you've read these terms, agree to them, and are at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction (or have permission from a parent or guardian). If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2. What the service does

The Service generates greeting card messages using artificial intelligence based on the inputs you provide (occasion, tone, relationship, length, and any optional context). The Service is provided free of charge, supported by ads and affiliate links. We don't promise that any specific feature will always be available, and we may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.

3. AI-generated content disclaimers

The messages generated by the Service are created by an AI model. They may occasionally contain errors, awkward phrasing, factual inaccuracies, or content that doesn't quite fit your situation. You should always read what the Service generates and edit it to suit your needs before sending it to anyone. You are responsible for what you send. We don't guarantee that any generated message is appropriate, accurate, original, or fit for any particular purpose.

The Service should not be used as a substitute for professional advice in legal, medical, financial, or therapeutic contexts. It's a writing assistant for greeting cards — nothing more.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

We may rate-limit, restrict, or block access to anyone who appears to be misusing the Service, with or without notice.

5. Ownership of generated content

The text generated by the Service in response to your inputs is yours to use as you see fit — write it in a card, post it on social media, print it on a mug, whatever. We don't claim ownership of generated messages and we don't restrict your use of them. That said, please note:

6. Affiliate links and advertising

The Service contains affiliate links (to Moonpig, Papier, Vistaprint, Canva, Zazzle, Redbubble, Amazon Associates, and possibly others). If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. The Service may also display ads served by Google AdSense or similar networks. These partnerships help keep the Service free, but they don't influence the messages we generate or the recommendations we make.

7. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers (Netlify for hosting, Anthropic for AI generation, Google for fonts and advertising, and our affiliate partners). Their terms apply to their portion of the experience. We're not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of any third-party site or service linked from or used by WhatToWrite.co.

8. "As is" disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any generated message will meet your expectations.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, WhatToWrite.co and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising from your use of the Service — even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you've paid us in the past twelve months, which (since the Service is free) is zero.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless WhatToWrite.co and its operator from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service or your violation of these terms.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason — including violation of these terms. Sections 5 (your ownership of generated text), 8 ("as is"), 9 (liability), 10 (indemnification), 12 (governing law), and this section will survive termination.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Ontario, unless the law of your home jurisdiction provides you with stronger protections that can't be waived.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, post a notice on the site. Continuing to use the Service after changes means you accept the updated terms.
